European Foundation for the Development of Medicine and Education: professional development and employment of doctors in the EU

The European Foundation for the Development of Medicine and Education has been successfully implementing a number of projects for doctors who are interested in employment and professional development in the EU for several years.

The Foundation projects are aimed at the professional training of healthcare technicians and medical students around the world, including for the purpose of building a career in Poland.

All our projects for review:

  1. The «Medical Europe» project

    The Medical Europe project is developed to provide medical employees from the post-Soviet countries access to a practice license in Poland. The project supports the application, consulting, as well as exam preparation of applicants to approve their specialists’ diplomas in Poland.

    As part of this project, the Foundation also assists doctors from outside the EU in obtaining a limited registration to practice as a doctor in Poland under the simplified employment procedure.

    The «Medical Europe» project accepts:

    • doctors with clinical experience;
    • doctors with practice interruptions (more than 5 years);
    • interns;
    • students of medical universities;
    • practicing nurses;
    • graduates of medical colleges;
    • veterinarians.

    Owing to participation in the “Medical Europe” project, more than 500 doctors from different countries approved their diplomas and were licensed to practice in Poland. More than 200 doctors have been employed under the simplified procedure and more than 70 more are waiting for employment shortly.

  2. The «International internships» project

    The «International internships project» accepts:

    • doctors and masters of pharmacy;
    • nurses and pharmacists;
    • students of medical universities and medical colleges.

    The project includes study tours, internships, and summer practices provided by leading clinics and medical universities in Poland. The project participants learn all the aspects of the Polish healthcare system and get familiar with the equipment and operation of Polish healthcare institutions. They obtain options to continue their education and approve their diplomas in Poland. Please, check our website for more details on the International Internships project.

  3. The «Professional Development» project

    The «Professional Development project» is made fore for the administrative healthcare staff and doctors. Within the project’s framework, the Foundation gives advanced training courses for doctors based on international experience in clinical practice. The tutors are experts in medical science with experience not only in Poland but also in other European countries. The participants get insights into medical technology innovations and try modern equipment in big medical centers in Poland.

    The popular courses for doctors are:

    • laparoscopy;
    • neurosurgery;
    • cosmetology

    We developed an MBA (Master of Business Administration) module course for healthcare administration staff within the Advanced Training project. After the course, its students receive an international MBA certificate (MBA in Health Care specialization – MBA w Ochronie Zdrowia).

  4. The «Medical Tourism» project

    The «Medical Tourism project» is for patients from abroad. The level of medical services in Poland is high, while costs are affordable. The project’s framework has three main focuses:

    • complex diagnosis;
    • disease treatment;
    • rehabilitation
  5. The «HELP UKRAINE!» project

    The «HELP UKRAINE!» project is launched against the war in Ukraine. Its objectives are:

    • supplying medicine to Ukrainian military hospitals;
    • supplying equipment and uniform to the Ukrainian departments of territorial defense;
    • supplying food and essentials to the Ukrainian city and district administrations to support the local community;
    • medical support to Ukrainian refugees in Poland;
    • adaptation and Polish language courses for refugees from Ukraine in Poland.

    The «HELP UKRAINE!» project is implemented through the cooperation of the Fund with the military administration representatives, territorial defense units, public organizations, army units, and healthcare institutions of Ukraine.
