On what terms is the obligatory quarantine payed?

He can count on receiving benefits with a mandatory 14-day quarantine on the basis of Art. 92 of the Labour Code:

  • an employee who has a compulsory health insurance contract;
  • a contractor who entered into a voluntary health insurance contract;
  • a person carrying out non-agricultural activities (voluntary insurance).

In order to receive the benefit, a person subjected to mandatory quarantine must submit an application for mandatory quarantine to his employer after crossing the border within 3 days after its completion. The contributor (employer) submits the insured person’s application to ZUS within 7 days if the sickness benefit is paid by ZUS. In this case, a scanned photograph or photograph with a certified statement is attached to the Z-3 / Z-3a certificate.

Mandatory paid quarantine

Individuals engaged in non-agricultural activities and persons cooperating with them submit a declaration to ZUS independently. The declaration can be submitted online. Applications can be submitted using the ZAS-53 form for sickness benefit. This application must also include a photo or scan.

It is important to remember that if the state sanitary inspector decides to shorten the time limit or release the quarantine person to comply with it, that person must inform the person who pays the sickness benefit (e.g. the employer, client or ZUS). The contributor, who pays benefits, or ZUS, can apply to the competent authority of the State Sanitary Inspection to verify the data contained in the declaration.
