Study tours of oncologists from Ukraine to the Oncology Center – Institute named after Maria Sklodowska-Curie in Poland The European Foundation for the Development of Medicine and Education EUROMED under the auspices of the International Project “Polish-Ukrainian Internship and Development Program for Ukrainian Medical Specialists” systematically organizes visits of Ukrainian doctors, nurses, students of medical higher educational institutions and students of medical colleges of Ukraine to Polish hospitals, medical and scientific – research centers, medical institutes and schools.
In the period from June 02 to July 01, 2016, a series of three-day study tours of oncologists from Ukraine to the Oncology Center – Institute named after Maria Sklodowska-Curie, Warsaw, Republic of Poland.
Purpose of the trips: to study the principles and organization of the work of the Institute of Oncology in general and its specific departments and divisions; familiarization with modern and newest methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of oncological diseases, adopted in Poland and the EU; new methods of rehabilitation in the treatment of cancer patients.
Also, oncologists from Ukraine took part in the discussion of individual cases of treatment of cancer patients during examination and detailed acquaintance with the work of specialized departments. We got acquainted with the peculiarities of conducting commission examinations when a patient was diagnosed with cancer for the first time and planning further surgical, complex or combined specialized treatment, received professional advice on the work of the oncological service at various levels of medical care in Poland and exchanged experiences with Polish colleagues.
Within the framework of the Program, oncologists visited and got acquainted with the organization of work and the functioning of the following structural divisions of the Oncological Institute:
- clinics of oncological gastroenterology (with a department of diagnostic capsule and balloon endoscopy);
- clinics for the diagnosis of cancer (MRI, CT, mammography);
- clinic of oncological cardiology;
- clinics of tumors of soft tissues, bones and melanomas;
- department of ultrasound diagnostics;
- operating unit;
- departments of pathology and laboratory diagnostics;
- clinic of onco-urology;
- clinic of onco-gynecology;
- outpatient chemotherapy departments;
- centralized hospital pharmacy.
In addition, Ukrainian doctors listened to a lecture on the topic “The health care system in Poland”, after which the certificates of the Program participants were awarded and an interesting 3-hour sightseeing tour “Old City” took place.
The European Foundation for the Development of Medicine and Education EUROMED undertakes the organization and support of study and business trips from the development of individual programs according to the needs of the hospital concerned to the solution of household issues (visa support, centralized departure, settlement, supervision of a curator, translation services, etc.)
