Next year university in Białystok will conduct the last nostrification exam

More and more doctors from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia are thinking about continuing their professional careers in the EU. Poland remains one of the most popular EU countries among doctors. Meanwhile, the global crisis, including the COVID-19 pandemic, is making significant adjustments to further development plans for various sectors of the economy, and the healthcare industry is no exception.

Today we have to admit that the window of opportunities for the recognition of medical degrees in Poland is narrowing. No, it will not close completely, but in the nearest future, we may lose one significant channel. This is the Medical University in Białystok. Every year in the fall, the university collects the largest number of applicants for nostrification from the countries of the former USSR and provides the largest number of successful passes.

The main advantage of the university in Białystok are two attempts to pass the nostrification exam. Such a unique opportunity for doctors is not provided by any of the medical universities, authorized to carry out nostrification in Poland. In addition, Białystok has a very convenient exam format – test questions in different medical disciplines collected in one quest.

Nostrification takes place in different ways in different universities in Poland. For example, in Poznań, the list of disciplines included in the nostrification exam is formed individually for each applicant and depends on how many hours were provided for the study of a particular subject at a medical university. In Warsaw, the nostrification exam takes place orally. In Łódź, although a convenient test format is provided, the statistics of successful passes are very disappointing.

As we learned, the Medical University in Białystok intends to suspend the nostrification process for an indefinite period. Surely it is known that this and next year the exam will take place, and what will happen next is not yet clear.

Therefore, all doctors who have already made a decision to move to Poland or are seriously thinking about it, we advise not to delay the preparation for nostrification – next year there is still an opportunity to get it in Białystok.
