Volunteers of the Help Ukraine Project: “We Do Everything That Depends on Us”

War is the same ordeal for those on the battlefield as for those close to it. Many people worldwide are bitterly aware of the ongoing disastrous events in Ukraine and would like to help the victims of military aggression.

The EUROMED Foundation also considers its duty to provide all relevant support to Ukraine, doing everything possible to save the people suffering because of this brutal war. All the time, our team collaborates with various organizations providing medical and humanitarian support to victims of military aggression.

At the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the EUROMED Foundation decisively applied for official permission to fundraise to help victims of war. Under the law, the permit must be approved by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Poland.

The EUROMED Foundation submitted an initiative to the Ministry to organize a transparent public collection of funds for the needs of Ukrainian victims due to the war. The application included the name, the purpose of fundraising, the number of people involved in the project, the name of the responsible organization, and transfer methods to receive funds (cash, non-cash to a current account, etc.), the headquarters’ location, and the project duration. We also undertook to provide a balance report at the end of the project.

Waiting for approval took about 3 weeks. The Help Ukraine project began an active collection of donations to support Ukrainian victims of military aggression in March. According to the Ministry, each packed donation box is marked with a numerical code allowing anyone to track it on the official website to learn more details on the box content.

The most committed participants of the Help Ukraine project are volunteers. They are ordinary Ukrainian women and girls living in Poland who cannot stand aside and are making everything possible to help their compatriots who became victims due to the aggressive actions of the occupying forces.

You can see our volunteers in the streets and squares of Warsaw, in shopping centers and clinics, standing out with the logos of the Help Ukraine project on their fundraising boxes. They assist to do their best to draw public attention to the problems of Ukraine and popularize Ukrainian culture and folklore.

We provide a daily estimation of the funds raised. The accountant keeps a thorough record. Thus, for example, from March 31 to April 22 of this year, our volunteers collected over PLN 11,000 in donations. These funds were spent to buy meat and fish, pasta, and other food products needed for the suffered in the Kharkiv region.

We are continuing to fundraise. The donation boxes for the needs of the Ukrainian people are placed at more than 15 points.

As part of the Help Ukraine project, the EUROMED Foundation is actively cooperating with Ukrainian military hospitals, local governments, and public organizations. Currently, we are receiving applications from military and public organizations in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Kherson region.

The Kharkiv region is in sharp need of food products, while Zaporizhzhia has an acute shortage of medicines. Our trucks with humanitarian aid deliver the necessary food and medicine to different regions of Ukraine, including Kherson, where the situation is difficult now.

To deliver food and medicines, we are engaging transport in Poland and Ukraine. Our volunteers make anything up to them to ensure the safety of humanitarian aid. To the best of our ability, we help the civilians as much as the Ukrainian military. Everything that we buy for them is passed from hand to hand to the fighters of the Ukrainian army.
